President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat Kairat Sarybay

Kairat Sarybay presented to the President information on the current activities of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA). Special emphasis was made on preparations for the 6th CICA Summit to be held in the coming October 12-13 in the capital of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, the prospects for the CICA’s transformation into a full-fledged international organization for cooperation in Asia were discussed. The implementation of this important task is a priority of Kazakhstan’s presidency of the CICA. The Executive Director informed President Tokayev about the meetings he had held in anticipation of the summit with the heads of the foreign ministries of the CICA member states. The President was also informed on strengthening the CICA’s economic dimension. Kairat Sarybay expressed gratitude to the President for his support in holding meetings of the Youth Council, as well as the CICA Business Council and Business Forum, which are planned to be organized within the “Astana Financial Days” scheduled for June. The Head of State stressed the importance of an effective implementation of Kazakhstan's priorities within the CICA’s presidency. President Tokayev pointed out the need for carefully designing the draft of the final document to be adopted following the upcoming summit.
