Jibek Joly / Silk Way

Jibek Joly / Silk Way is the family entertainment TV channel broadcasting nationwide 24 hours a day in Kazakh and Russian through Jibek Joly domestic brand and Silk Way TV Channel international brand available in the Kazakh, Russian, English, Kyrgyz and Uzbek languages.  It broadcasts from Kazmedia Ortalygy (Kazmedia Center) in the city of Astana in the HDTV, 16:9 format.

Yerkezhan Kuntugan is a graduate of the Pavlodar State Pedagogical University named after A. Margulan, the Faculty of Philology.
In 2011, Yerkezhan Kuntugan held the position of the head of the Educational Television Center in Pavlodar. She worked as a producer for the Directorate of Information and Analytical Programs at Channel One Eurasia and as the Deputy General Producer of the Atameken Business Channel.
In 2020-2021, she worked as Editor-in-Chief of the Kazakh service and Creative Producer at Channel One Eurasia.
Prior to her appointment as the Director of the Jibek Joly TV Channel, Yerkezhan Kuntugan held the position of the Creative Director at the TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

October 25, 2002 – It starts broadcasting as CaspioNet TV Channel.

September 1, 2012 – The TV Channel is rebranded as Qazaq TV.

October 25, 2012 – On the 10th anniversary the TV Channel starts programming from the new Kazmedia Ortalygy in Astana in the HDTV, 16:9[1] format.

November 16, 2017 – Qazaq TV Channel switches to multi-language broadcasting with audio tracks in Kazakh, Russian and English.

May 1, 2018 – It starts broadcasting in Kyrgyz.

November 28, 2018 – The TV Channel offers content in Uzbek.

April 1, 2022 – The TV Channel joins the NJSC Television and Radio Complex of the President of Kazakhstan.

September 1, 2022 at 00:00 – Qazaq TV has rebranded revealing its new name as Jibek Joly (nationwide) and Silk Way (for international broadcasting).

Executives:

Sandugash Rakhimzhanova is named as the head of Qazaq TV Channel in 2018.

In 2019 Maya Bekbayeva is nominated to head the TV Channel.

In 2022 Kuntugan Yerkezhan is designated to the post of the head of the Presidential TV Channel.

September  1, 2023 – The TV Channel joins the RSE on the REM “TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

The TV Channel offers more than 40 programs aimed at foreign audience focusing on the history of Kazakhstan, its unique landscapes and nature, culture, customs and traditions . The Jibek Joly / Silk Way news service has reporters based all over Kazakhstan, as well as in Europe, Asia and CIS countries. Besides, the TV Channel maintains close cooperation with the world’s leading news agencies.

Content

More than half of the Jibek Joly / Silk Way content consists of its own original programs. It creates “New Time” and “Zhana Uakyt” analytical programs, Krivosheyev Live and “JJ Talk” political talk-shows, “Yel” social talk-show, entertainment project including “Tungi studiya with Nurlan Koyanbayev”, “Zhaksy adamdarym”, etc. Besides, it features the best foreign films, TV shows, and animated films dubbed in Kazakh and the best projects of the Silk Way archives.  Silk Way is an international branch of the Jibek Joly TV Channel. Silk Way is the first national satellite. It creates its unique content. 

The TV Channel focuses mainly on culture, traditions, history, tourist and investment opportunities of Kazakhstan. Besides, it provides daily the latest news about Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Kazakhstan launched the international satellite TV Channel on October 25, 2022 broadcasting in Kazakh, Russian and English. In 2018 it also started featuring news in Kyrgyz and Uzbek. Since the TV channel broadcasts in multichannel format, the digital TV users can choose out of 5 language options with 100% broadcast in one of those languages.
