Kassym-Jomart Tokayev holds talks with Umaro Sissoco Embaló

A solemn ceremony was held at the Akorda residence to welcome the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

The two Presidents introduced the members of their respective delegations. The Commander of the Guard of Honour made a ceremonial report, followed by the national anthems of both countries.  Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Umaro Sissoco Embaló then held a closed-door meeting.

The President of Kazakhstan highlighted that Guinea-Bissau is an important partner for Kazakhstan in Africa.

– We are highly interested in strengthening bilateral relations. I believe we have very promising opportunities, considering that the governments of both countries will make every effort to explore additional avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation. We share similar views on pressing international issues and are ready to expand our engagement with your representatives in key international organizations, in particular the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, – emphasized President Tokayev.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also pointed out the potential for developing ties between Kazakhstan and Guinea-Bissau in areas such as agriculture, mining, IT, transport, and logistics.

In response, Umaro Sissoco Embaló expressed his gratitude to the President of Kazakhstan for the warm hospitality extended on Kazakh soil.

– Close cooperation with your country is of great importance to us. I previously visited Kazakhstan as Prime Minister. In the past, students from Guinea-Bissau studied in your country, including many technical specialists. We wish to continue our cooperation in this area because we are confident that we can learn a great deal from Kazakhstan,– said Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

The two leaders also exchanged views on pressing global and regional issues.
