The President Tokayev received the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela

Welcoming the high-ranking representative of the European Union, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan places priority on developing comprehensive cooperation with the EU – a vital foreign economic and investment partner for our country.

– Kazakhstan remains a key partner of the European Union in Central Asia, and the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement provides a solid foundation for deepening our multifaceted interaction, – the President stated.

In turn, Jozef Síkela thanked the Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the opportunity to meet and emphasized that the EU attaches great importance to the region.

– This is my first significant mission as Commissioner for International Partnerships. It is no coincidence that I decided to visit all five Central Asian countries. This clearly demonstrates the European Union’s commitment to ensuring deeper and more sustainable engagement with Kazakhstan and other states in the region, – the European Commissioner said.

The interlocutors discussed a range of practical issues on the bilateral agenda, with an emphasis on implementing both existing and new economic projects aimed at developing transport corridors, logistics infrastructure, sustainable energy, and digital solutions.

An exchange of views also took place on pressing regional and global issues. Both sides confirmed their mutual readiness to further coordinate approaches on the international stage, including within the framework of the "Central Asia – European Union" format.
