President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico held expanded format negotiations with the participation of delegations from both countries.
As the President Tokayev noted, Slovakia is an important and reliable partner for Kazakhstan in Europe.
– Your country stands as one of the most active and dynamically-developing EU member states. Many of these achievements are a testament to your strong leadership at the helm of Slovak Government. Slovakia’s active stance in regional and international affairs reflects our joint commitment to constructive global engagement. I appreciate the growing political dialogue, economic cooperation and humanitarian exchanges as well as productive interaction on the multilateral track, – the President said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recalled that relations between Astana and Bratislava are based on a solid legal framework covering key areas of cooperation. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s intention to continue close collaboration with Slovakia across the entire spectrum of bilateral and multilateral agendas.
According to him, priority attention should be given to economic partnership. Last year, the trade turnover amounted to 140 million dollars. More than 30 Slovak companies and 22 joint ventures operate in Kazakhstan across various sectors.
The President of Kazakhstan also emphasized the importance of further diversifying the structure of cooperation. He noted that new opportunities are emerging in areas such as energy, industrial production, agriculture, logistics, digitalization, critical raw materials, education, and tourism.
In turn, Robert Fico expressed gratitude to the Head of our state for the warm welcome extended to him and the Slovak delegation.
– I’d like to thank Kazakhstan for its invaluable contribution to the liberation of Slovakia in 1944 - 1945. About one million soldiers from your country fought in the ranks of the Soviet Army. Around 60,000 Soviet soldiers gave their lives for the liberation of Slovakia. We are deeply grateful for what was done for Slovakia during those difficult times. Your Excellency, with deep respect, we follow your efforts to develop the country and your ambitious plan to build a new Just and Prosperous Kazakhstan. I constantly urge my colleagues in the European Union not to focus solely on internal EU matters but to look broader at the world, study the experiences of other countries, and their achievements. We should strengthen cooperation and engage more actively with partners worldwide, – the Prime Minister stated.
During the negotiations with the participation of the delegations from both countries, the mutual interest in further strengthening the partnership and implementing new initiatives to foster the development of Kazakh-Slovak relations was reaffirmed.
