A ceremonial welcome was held at Al-Husseiniya Palace for President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, who is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Head of State was welcomed by King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and Crown Prince Al-Hussein.
In honor of the distinguished guest, an honor guard was lined up in the square in front of the palace. The military band performed the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Jordan. Following the report by the commander of the honor guard, the leaders proceeded to the negotiation hall.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Tokayev congratulated King Abdullah II on the silver jubilee of his reign, wishing him further success in implementing constructive initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for the people of Jordan and enhancing the country’s standing on the international stage.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the Jordanian leader for his contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that Jordan is widely recognized by the international community for its unwavering commitment to peace and stability.
– The purpose of my visit is to give additional momentum to our relations, friendship, and trade-economic ties. I believe that we share common views and assessments of the processes taking place in the world. At the same time, we are very interested in strengthening ties at the political level. We have certain ideas. I am confident that in the near future, we will be able to reach specific agreements and achieve very good results. We are ready to work hard within the framework of our cooperation. We consider Jordan a friendly state. We have much in common, – he emphasized.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the Joint Statement and agreements to be adopted today serve as an example of the shared commitment to enhancing Kazakh-Jordanian cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral and multilateral agendas.
In turn, King Abdullah II of Jordan noted that the visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opens up broad opportunities for further expanding bilateral political, trade-economic, and investment cooperation.
– I am pleased to welcome you and your esteemed delegation to Jordan. It is gratifying that today presents excellent opportunities to activate economic ties and private sector engagement, which is of utmost importance, – emphasized the King of Jordan.
During the talks, the they discussed prospects for developing contacts in key sectors such as trade, investment, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, tourism, energy, digitalization, and pharmaceuticals.
Special attention was paid to expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Currently, around 300 Jordanian citizens are studying at medical universities in Kazakhstan.
The President of Kazakhstan and the King of Jordan also exchanged views on pressing issues of international and regional security.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited the King of Jordan to visit Kazakhstan.
Following the negotiations, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan and King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan adopted a Joint Statement.
Additionally, in the presence of the Heads of State, members of the official delegations signed the following documents:
- Memorandum of Understanding on Industrial Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;
- Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Atomic Energy Commission of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;
- Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;
- Agreement on Cooperation between JSC "National Company "Samruk-Kazyna" and the Ministry of Investment of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan;
- Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the TV & Radio Complex of the President of Kazakhstan and the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation.
Furthermore, as part of the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Jordan, 10 interdepartmental and commercial documents were signed.
