Negotiations between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Nataša Pirc Musar were held in Astana

A solemn ceremony was held at the Akorda residence to welcome the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit. The presidents introduced the members of their delegations to each other, after which the commander of the guard of honour delivered a welcoming report. The event was accompanied by the playing of the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Slovenia. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Nataša Pirc Musar then began talks.

Welcoming the distinguished guest the President of Kazakhstan emphasized that her visit opens exceptional prospects for deepening and expanding Kazakh-Slovenian partnership.

– Our commitment to closer cooperation with your country is absolutely clear. As the president of this country, I will do my utmost to strengthen ties in all areas of mutual interest. Slovenia is regarded as a major and highly important partner for Kazakhstan in the Balkans. We have the potential to propose attractive projects to your business community as well as to the government, – the Kazakh President said.

As the President pointed out, direct investment from Slovenia in the Kazakh economy has reached almost $200 million. Nineteen companies with Slovenian capital are successfully operating in Kazakhstan in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, engineering, telecommunications and renewable energy. Kazakhstan and Slovenia also have significant opportunities in transport, logistics, digitalisation and innovation, healthcare and tourism.

In turn, the President of Slovenia expressed sincere gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm reception extended to her and her delegation.

– We do have a diplomatic relationship for 33 years. Kazakhstan was one of the first countries in Central Asia to establish ties with Slovenia. Over these 33 years, there have been no unresolved issues between us. As you rightly noted, there is significant potential to expand and enhance our economic cooperation. That is why I am particularly pleased and satisfied to be accompanied by a large business delegation. Our representatives have already begun discussions with their Kazakh counterparts,– said Nataša Pirc Musar.

The talks also included an exchange of views on a wide range of issues on the global and regional agenda.
