Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Holds Talks with Rwandan President Paul Kagame

A formal welcoming ceremony for President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, took place at the Akorda Presidential Palace.

The two leaders introduced members of their official delegations to each other. The commander of the honor guard delivered a ceremonial report to the presidents, and the national anthems of both countries were played. This was followed by bilateral talks between the leaders.

Addressing President Paul Kagame, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev described his visit as historic, marking a new chapter in Kazakhstan-Rwanda relations.

– I believe this visit and our upcoming discussions are of great importance in providing fresh momentum to our bilateral cooperation. We hold a very positive view of Rwanda. Your economy is on the rise, achieving impressive growth. We need to strengthen our ties, as Kazakhstan holds a leading position in its region in terms of GDP, as well as in the development of IT technologies and artificial intelligence. These are priority areas for our mutually beneficial partnership. Therefore, I attach great significance to Your visit, – said President Tokayev.

In response, the Rwandan President expressed gratitude to the Kazakh President for the warm welcome and affirmed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.

–Thank you for your kind invitation to visit Kazakhstan. This is my second visit; I was here previously in 2015. We look forward to exploring opportunities for further collaboration with you and your team for the benefit of both our nations, – Paul Kagame emphasized.

The leaders discussed prospects for advancing Kazakh-Rwandan relations in political, trade, economic, transport, logistics, agricultural, and digitalization spheres. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
