The President of Kazakhstan Meets with President of the German Bundesrat Anke Rehlinger

At the Akorda Residence, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Anke Rehlinger, President of the German Bundesrat and Minister-President of the Federal State of Saarland.

The Kazakh President emphasized that Germany is one of Kazakhstan’s key strategic partners in the European Union and a leading investor in the country’s economy.

– Germany is a very important country for us, our primary partner in Europe. We place great importance on developing cooperation with your nation. Taking this opportunity, I would like to share my warm recollections of my recent visit to Germany. I held talks with President Steinmeier, whom I have known for a long time. As for parliamentary relations, I fully support this form of cooperation, – noted President Tokayev.

He briefed his distinguished guest on the main priorities of Kazakhstan’s economic policy.

– We believe that the focus should now be on creating and developing major infrastructure projects, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, we consider transport logistics and, of course, agriculture to be key areas, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to the President, Kazakhstan has undertaken significant political reforms in recent years.

– The changes introduced to our legislation, particularly to the Constitution, demonstrate that Kazakhstan is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Naturally, reforms will continue. Some new initiatives will likely involve the law enforcement and judicial systems, which are critically important. However, the nature of the state, by which I mean its presidential system, will remain in place, as it fully aligns with our vision of what our state should be in a rapidly changing world, – stressed the Kazakh President.

In turn, Anke Rehlinger thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the meeting and expressed her readiness to promote shared goals for the benefit of both nations.

– Thank you very much for taking the time to exchange ideas and thoughts. I will convey your greetings to Federal President Steinmeier. He is a great friend of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. As a middle power, Kazakhstan is our key partner in the region and a very reliable one, – noted the President of the German Bundesrat.

During the discussion, the two sides addressed specific aspects of strengthening trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.
